European Furniture and Works of Art

Christie’s European Furniture and Works of Art department specialises in European furniture and objects as well as clocks, ceramics, glass, Chinese export and tapestries that span from the 17th to the 19th century.

Our international team of specialists in London, Paris and New York have overseen a variety of high-profile and landmark sales, including Masterpieces from a Rothschild Collection, totalling £23.8 million in London; The Private Collection of Jayne Wrightsman in New York; and the collections of Karl Lagerfeld, Hubert de Givenchy and Yves Saint-Laurent & Pierre Bergé in Paris and Monaco. The department was responsible for the record-breaking sale of The Badminton Cabinet, which achieved £19 million in 2004 — the most expensive decorative work of art ever to be sold at auction.
