DATED 1884, IMPRESSED DOULTON LAMBETH SEAL MARK, IFF * =q= AND INCISED EC
Oviform with flaring neck, small pinched spout and strap handle, the body applied with four portrait medallions, each sprigged with stoneware stiff-leaf tips and the mottos: He that buys land buys stones; He that buys flesh buys bones; He that buys eggs buys many shells; He that buys good ale buys nothing else
