Shaped oval and on a spreading foot, the side pieces with latticework and chased with wheat, with an openwork foliage scroll and flower border and an overhead handle, engraved with a coat-of-arms, marked near border
15½ in. (39.3 cm.) wide
45 oz. (1,407 gr.)
The arms are those of FitzGerald quartering FitzGibbon. FitzGibbon, known as the White Knight, was one of the three cadet branches of the Desmond lordship, along with the Knight of Glin and the Knight of Kerry. The title White Knight became extinct with the death of Maurice Oge FitzGibbon in 1691.
