BLANC ET NOIR
This consignor offers the opportunity to compare and contrast two of the rarest and finest Champagnes produced in the region. Bollinger's opulent, highly concentrated, 100 percent Pinot Noir cuvée, Vielles Vignes Françaises, is a worthy companion to the steely minerality of Krug's 100 percent Chardonnay cuvée, Clos du Mesnil. Both are produced in miniscule quantity and both are highly sought-after by wine lovers the world over.
BOLLINGER - VIELLES VIGNES FRANAISES
Vielles Vignes Françaises is a unique blanc de noirs cuvée produced exclusively from three named sites unaffected by phylloxera, Clos St-Jacques and Chaudes Terres in Aÿ and Croix Rouge in Bouzy. The vines are ungrafted and planted in the old-world marcottage method with yields kept very low and grapes are not picked until extremely ripe. Production across the three vineyards would normally produce up to 8000 bottles annually, but the pruning techniques, dense planting and ungrafted vines combine to restrict production to a scant 3000 bottles of this massive Champagne.
Bollinger Vielles Vignes Françaises
--Vintage 1979
Levels: above foil; each bottle in individual original wooden case with lock and key
