Lot Essay

Sophie von Buxhoeveden was the second child of the Russian Infantry General Friedrich Wilhelm Count von Buxhoeveden and his wife Natalia Aleksandrovna Alekseyev (a daughter of Empress Catherine the Great and her lover Grigorii Grigor'evich Orlov). She married Arkadi Ivanovich Relidov.
