The Rest on the Flight to Egypt (Wurzbach 1; B., Holl. 4)
etching, 1593, second (final) state (the impression in the first state in Amsterdam is thought to be unique), a fine, richly inked impression of this exceptionally rare print, the vertical polishing scratches and guide-lines printing strongly, watermark Coat of Arms with a Lion (Briquet 1989, dated to the late 1590s), with wide margins, an unflattened printer's crease to the centre right of the subject, a worm-hole at the upper left of the subject, scattered pale foxing in the margins, one foxmark just touching the upper platemark, some time- staining at the upper sheet edge, a soft crease across the lower right sheet corner, otherwise generally in good, unrestored condition
