Property from the Pincus Collection
The Pincus Collection is one of the finest and most comprehensive collections of Abstract Expressionism of our time. Assembled over more than five decades, the Collection reflects the intimate and deep passion of David Pincus and his wife, Gerry, for the world of contemporary art. Christie's is honored to offer 38 works from the Collection this May including important paintings, drawings and sculpture, as well as contemporary photography, by Willem de Kooning, Barnett Newman, Jackson Pollock, Clyfford Still and Jeff Wall. The centerpiece of the collection is Mark Rothko's transcendental masterpiece, Orange, Red, Yellow, 1961, a bold, forceful and imposing work which radiates with an almost epic sense of vitality.
