Christie's is currently the market leader in the sector, having set some world auction records for extraordinary pieces such as a Dutch silver ewer, by Adam Van Vianen, Utrecht, 1619 sold for $5,375,000 in New York in April 2018 and acquired by the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the Duchess of Modena silver-gilt dressing service by Nicolas Besnier, Paris, 1719 which achieved a total of €3,000,000 in Paris in November 2019 and was acquired in part by the Louvre Museum.
