(Some minor soiling and marginal waterstains on some leaves.) 18th-century calf, double gilt fillet around covers and in compartments on spine, lettering-piece (slightly rubbed, repair at foot of spine.) Provenance: 2nd Marquess of Bute (Luton Library bookplate).
The first French printing of the work with illustrations by Bernard Salomon and the revised and expanded commentary and notes by Philander (1505-1563). Fowler 406; Berlin Kat. 1813; Cicognara 712.
