A dismounted fan leaf signed R.[uggero] Panerai, painted with a lady dressed in a riding habit in the arms of a yachtsman , her horse is lead to one side by a man in hunting pink riding a second horse, there is a yacht and a island beyond, a black retriever watches - 26in. Ruggero Panerai was born in Florence in 1862 and died in Paris in 1923. He trained at the Accademia di Firenze and worked in the studio of Giovanni Fattori. Another fan by him, mounted on wooden sticks, painted with a man rounding up Camargue wild horses, circa 1880-1890 was exhibited in Ventagli Italiani, Florence, 1990, no. 119.
