Circa 1726, blue enamel crossed swords marks, wheel engraved Japanese Palace inventory numbers N=346_/W, Dreher's .. to footrim of saucer
Painted with the 'Quail' pattern, the two birds between a flowering plant and a flowering prunus tree, the cup with pale-brown line rim (very minor flaking to brown line rim, the saucer with very minor rubbing to gilding and two minor flakes to enamels of iron-red quail) (2)

It is interesting to note that although these two pieces may usually be considered not to match, they have the same inventory numbers and have most probably been together since 1731.
