A pale green mould blown glass bottle, Iran, 12th first half 13th century
with globular body and slender tubular neck, the body moulded with four roundels of peacocks, alternating with vases, beneath a band of roundels, light scattered gold irridescence -- 8¼in. (21cms) high.

Provenance: Nasli M. Heeramaneck, donated by Joan Palevsky.

A bottle which could have been made as a pair to this example is in the al-Subah collection, Kuwait (Carboni, Stefano: Glass From Islamic Lands, London 2001, no.68b, pp.241-2). This entry also includes a drawing of the moulded design.
