AN EDWARDIAN OAK ARMCHAIR
BY W. BAKER, CIRCA 1910, IN THE GOTHIC STYLE
With an undulating toprail and pierced gothic splat with solid seat on square chamfered legs, bearing an ivory label 'W BAKER MAKER HARINGTON'

专家说明

The label is possibly that of Charles Baker (1841-1932), a skilled carpenter who specialised in copies of antique furniture. Educated at the 'penny-a-week' school on Guinea Lane, he set up a company in Bath that made 100 chairs for the Banqueting Room in Guildhall and a cabinet for Queen Victoria's doll's house.
