专家说明

We are grateful to Everett Fahy for suggesting an attribution to Jacopo dell'Indaco on the basis of photographs. He further suggests that it may belong to the same complex as the artist's Temple of Hercules in the Palazzo Davanzati (see F. Sricchia Santoro, 'Del Franciabigio dell'Indaco e di una vecchia questione', Prospettiva, 1993, nos. 70 and 71).

The 25th Earl of Crawford, author as Lord Lindsay of Sketches of the History of Christian Art, 1847, was one of the greatest of the nineteenth-century collectors: for a detailed account see N. Barker, Biblioteca Lindesiana, 1977.
