MOMOYAMA-EDO PERIOD (Early 17th Century)
The dense nashiji ground decorated in gold, black, brown and silver takamaki-e, tsukegaki, kirikane, kin-fun, kirigai and ginfun with Yoritomo's hunting party in the foothills of Mount Fuji, on the front, Yoritomo is shown on horseback shielded by a parasol held by a retainer, and surrounded by hunters, one with a hawk on his arm, on the reverse is Mount Fuji, with drifting clouds and snow at the peak and on the slopes a mounted hunter takes aim with his bow at a running group of three deer, in the foreground a hunter attempts to spear a hare and Nitta no Shiro Tadatsune rides backwards on a wild boar holding a dagger with which he is about to kill the beast and an early ivory netsuke of a standing figure of a smiling sage, some old wear
