The 2004 Masseto showed a lush fig and plum fruit character with deep chocolate and brown sugar notes, yet the wine was not lacking in freshness, and spice notes lend complexity to the mix. On the palate the wine was undeniably dense, rich and silky, yet it retains a fresh, supple character with a restrained elegance that demonstrates great finesse. Really very enjoyable wine.
