A seasoned and well recognized auctioneer across Christie’s salerooms in Geneva, Hong Kong, London, and New York, Rahul Kadakia began his career at Christie’s London in 1996, the world’s leading jewelry auction house. In 1997, he moved to Geneva to oversee the traditional Magnificent Jewels auctions each May and November, a role he held for seven years.
In 2004, he was appointed Head of the Jewelry Department for Christie’s Americas in New York, and in 2014 he became International Head of Jewelry.
Over the course of his career, Rahul has presided over numerous landmark sales. Among them were the Baroda Pearls, which achieved a world auction record of US$7.1 million in 2007, and in 2011 he served as a lead auctioneer for the legendary Collection of Elizabeth Taylor, which realized an extraordinary total of US$137.2 million. His other notable achievements include the sale of the 14.26 carat Oppenheimer Blue Diamond for US$57.5 million, and his pivotal role in presenting the Maharajas & Mughal Magnificence global exhibition and sale in 2019; a marathon 12‑hour auction culminated in a total of US$110 million, the highest sum ever achieved for a sale of Indian jewels and Mughal jeweled objects.
In January 2026, Rahul was announced as the new President for Christie’s Asia Pacific and Chairman of the Luxury Group, based in Hong Kong.
