Director, International Head of Oriental Rugs and Carpets
Louise Broadhurst has been at Christie’s for nearly two decades having started in 1997 as an intern in the Jewellery department later becoming the sale coordinator for 19th century Furniture and Works of Art department at King street. In 2002 Louise was made Junior Specialist in the Oriental Rugs and Carpets department where she went on to be made Head of Sale and an Associate Director in 2006. Having returned from having had a family, Louise became a Director and Head of department in January 2014. Following her extensive years of experience with the company, she has been involved with a number of high profile sales, including the recent sale of three Safavid Kirman ‘Vase’ carpets formerly in the collection of Alice de Rothschild that sold for £2,299,500 in April 2016. Louise obtained her Joint Honours BA in History of Art and Italian from University College London and spent two years studying in Italy. She also holds a diploma with distinction from the Institute of Fine and Decorative Arts, London.
