Design at Christie's New York totals $98,033,060 million across its four sales.
Sculpting Paradise: The Collection of Marie Lalanne realises over $77 million, the highest ever total for a Design sale at Christie’s. Les Lalanne’s Âne Planté is the top lot of the series, achieving $8,405,000 and a world record for the model.
Designs by Alberto and Diego Giacometti sells 96% by value, led by the ‘Table aux Caryatides’ from the estate of Jerry Ganz, which realises $1,680,000.
Rare 20th-century pieces by Armand Albert Rateau and Isamu Noguchi lead our seasonal Design sale while the highly sought-after ‘Wisteria’ table lamp, which realises $693,000, tops the Tiffany sale.

Christie's is honored to present Sculpting Paradise: The Collection of Marie Lalanne, which comprises exceptional works of art by her parents, the paradigm-shifting French sculptors Claude & François-Xavier Lalanne.
Alex Heminway (International Head of Design, Christie’s) introduces notable Lalanne experts Adrian Dannatt, the author/curator who wrote the work of reference on the artists, Edith Dicconson, senior director of Kasmin Gallery (Les Lalanne’s historic US gallery, and Pauline Karpidas, among the earliest and most stead-fast collectors of Les Lalanne.
Taking place in Christie’s Rockefeller Galleries, each speaker notes on their personal and professional relationship with the artists while surrounded by the plentiful sculptures, design and jewellery pieces offered in Sculpting Paradise: The Collection of Marie Lalanne, New York, 7 December 2022.
