A rare printed fan, possibly Dutch, the paper leaf printed with a port scene possibly Marseilles in sepia and coloured by hand, the reserves painted with beehives and flowers, the ivory sticks carved and pierced with figures and decorated with coloured straw-work - 10in. Although it is said that no printed fans were made in the North Netherlands, the composition of this leaf is typically Dutch: furthermore brown ink has been used on this as on another printed fan of Dutch composition in The Lennox-Boyd Collection
