A PAIR OF REGENCY ORMOLU-MOUNTED AND BRASS-INLAID ROSEWOOD BOULLE OCCASIONAL TABLES inlaid in premier and contre partie, each with moulded square top inlaid with a central quatrefoil within a foliate arabesque circular medallion with crossbanded ring and husk-garlanded C-scroll sprays to the angles within a further foliate arabesque border with wheel-medallions at the corners, the entrelac-and-rosette collar above an egg-and-dart panelled frieze with one cedar-lined drawer inlaid with boxwood banding and mounted with anthemion-garlanded nymph-masks, upon a turned columnar stepped shaft with stiff-leaf, egg-and-dart and gadrooned socle, the square stepped plinth with further wheel-medallions, on winged claw feet with brass castors

Designed in the early 19th century 'antique' manner with Grecian 'crepidome'-stepped plinths on winged paw feet, the tables are brass-inlaid and richly mounted in the French manner popularised by the specialist London 'Buhl Manufacturers' such as Thomas Parker of Air Street, Jamar of Wardour Street and Louis Le Gaigneur of Queen Street (see: M. Levy, 'Sincerest Form of Flattery', Country Life, 15 June 1989, pp. 178-181. A table of this model was sold anonymously in these Rooms, 8 February 1951, lot 131
