A rare Clover anaesthetic apparatus signed by the Holborn Surgical Instrument Co. London in fitted leather lined case

This original, unmodified Clover anaesthetic apparatus was invented in 1887 by Joseph Clover (1825-1882) born at Aylsham Norfork. This was the first piece of equipment to provide a conveniant means of regulating the amount of ether vapour inhaled during general anaesthesia.
