Oval box, the cover and base with panels engine-turned with concentric reeding, the sides with horizontal reeding, framed by flutes, the lid centred by an oval glazed miniature depicting a young lady facing right, dressed as a Bacchante in leopard's skin dress with white underslip and vine around her shoulders, a bandeau in her high-piled powdered curly hair, the matted borders chased with a garland of flowers entwined with a ribbon, the four side pilasters chased in two-colour gold with trophies of music, the lower border of the sides chased with a wavescroll band
