A CHICKEN-BONE JADE HIBISCUS-FORM BRUSHWASHER
16TH/17TH CENTURY
Well carved as a large hibiscus blossom borne on a leafy, budding stem that forms the openwork base and handle to one side where a curious chilong pulls itself up from amidst the stem and leaves to peer over the rim into the interior, the well-polished, opaque stone with dark veining and fine blackish mottling
7 in. (17.8 cm.) across, wood stand
