FIRST EDITION. 'ONE OF THE GREATEST OF ALL PHOTOBOOKS', and that which introduced the enduring concept of 'the decisive moment' (The Photobook). 'Cartier-Bresson's precise organization of forms has come to be the standard against which that of all other photographers is measured, and this book is its proper expression' (101 Books). This first edition, unlike the American co-edition was issued with the captions bound-in and without dust-jacket. 101 Books, pp.134-35; The Open Book, pp.154-55; The Photobook, p.208
