This note probably dates from the late 1810s when Clarke lived near Hazlitt in London. He was a mong the most gregarious figures in 19th century letters, boasting the friendship of not only Hazlitt, but Keats, Coleridge, Leigh Hunt, Charles and Mary Lamb, among many others.
