AMATI, Carlo. Gli ordini di architettura del Barozzi da Vignola. Milan: Pirotta & Maspero, 1805. 2° (450 x 326mm). Engraved title with vignette and 39 plates (some staining and spotting). Later 19th-century diced half calf (rubbed). Provenance: library stamp on title.

And another copy of the first book. At the time when eclecticism was spreading in Italy, the milanese architect and writer Carlo Amati advocated a return to Vitruvian principles, producing a series of publications devoted to Vignola, Vitruvius, Roman antiquities in Milan, and on archaeology. (3)
