The enamel plaque with a figure of Mercury to the centre beneath a canopy and flanked by flower-filled vases and urns issuing water beneath; in a hinged, gilt-copper case engraved extensively to the front and sides and containing a later mirror to the interior

Another very similar gilt-copper-mounted oval mirror case inset with an enamel panel depicting Mars was formerly in the John Edward Taylor collection of Limoges enamels and was sold by Christie's, London, 2 July 1912, lot 152.
